Got a 300 gal Rubbermaid trough in my bull lot, has a leak at the very lesser I expect on the seam along the bottom, probably two inches wide or so. Is there a putty of some sort that will agree in this spot? Fairly new tank, hate to have to replace information technology. Already replaced a 750 gallon galvanized i this forenoon.

I've had expert luck using a plastic welder from harbor freight. I take a grinder and cut a grove where the crack is. Then accept the hot iron and start melting information technology together and fill up the fissure in with the plastic rods in the kit john s

+ i on the harbor freight welder . bought one thinking perhaps because information technology was inexpensive and I was likewise cheap buy ! I accept used information technology on a tank , ATV grille and the tabs on the back of my pickup nuance panel . May try to drill the smallest diameter holes both ends of the crack and then as B2001 has said . The important role I believe is to get information technology somewhat roughed up and free of dirt for adhesion . good luck

I buy fiber glass resin with harden jell. Y'all can get it at Walmart for virtually $12.00. Too use it on metal tanks and fifty-fifty creep feeders. mutt

If yous buy the harbor freight welder, cut a strip of the plastic from the curved lip at the height to brand your rod from. Unlike plastics will not bond as good together equally the original plastic to its cocky. ihmanky

Any reason yous couldn't use a proficient soldering gun as opposed to the cheapest HF plastic welding fe? I know they work on soft plastic because 30+ years ago before anyone talked of welding plastic, I was taking plastic 4 door toy cars, cutting the back door section off with a bandsaw and "welding" the dorsum section back onto the front half of the auto to make toy dirt track stock cars... only I had no concept of fillet rod; I but melted both halves and pressed them together. Fabricated for a jagged, ugly seam but hey, good dirt cars are ugly hahaha. cattledriver

I've used flex seal on a tank just like it. Information technology does piece of work on cracks. The trick is it takes many coats (three-4) and you tin't move the tank. I've had ane that was fixed and I later moved the tank and the crack opened back up. ntexcotton

That is what I have used. A skilful heat gun works sometimes too. littlejo

I've heard that they used to accept a "Lifetime" warranty, but the current ones are advertised with a one year warranty. If you lot could bespeak me to a copy of this "lifetime" warranty, I would appreciate it. I have about 10 of the 150 gallon tanks with cracks in the bottom that I bought in the mid 1990's.

To the original poster: I've tried roof tar, bentonite, JB weld and plastic welding. IF you can proceed the tank from moving, any of these will work. But once information technology moves, the crack opens support and leaks over again.

I'one thousand not a big fan of Rubbermaid tanks. They seem to accident autonomously when any force per unit area is put against them. A skillful brand of stock tank is fabricated by Hastings factory. I have seen them go roughed upwardly pretty expert and go back to their original shape. Without whatever holes.

We have stock-still a few with pretty good but not perfect success. Demand to drill a small hole at end of scissure, clean information technology very well. We have used a few dissimilar products but Silapreen was the old standby, now that yous can't find it we use sikaflex, or similar Sealer, need to pry open the crack and become it well worked into both sides, go out a pocket-size layer on exterior of area and let it cure for a couple days. Recently got some rubbery glue for installing windshields and I bet that stuff would work great, merely like all things that work well, once y'all open a tube yous might as well apply it all as information technology won't go along. 8
